Before "Manifest Destiny" was coined to cover the
wars on Native Americans by white settlers, Lewis & Clark
visited the Northwest to survey the land and water for Thomas
Jefferson. When they arrived in the Pacific Northwest, these
are the four different kinds of canoes they saw.

and art of the NW Coast Indians.
