I love learning about the importance of floodplains in carbon capture. I already knew they are an important part of biodiversity and ecosystem restoration.
River Partners has a wonderful story on hope and possibility in the midst of crisis. Our hope is we learn to adapt and shift from extraction based economies to a stewardship model that protects our habitat and improves our lives, stops the 6th extinction.
I first started learning about the importance of floodplains while running a growth management initiative here in Seattle 34 years ago. The story then was about building density in cities to protect rural farms and forests from suburban sprawl.
Then I worked with King Conservation District to design the Hedgerows poster with artist Suzanne Duranceau, and learned more about rivers and streams crossing farms and how to grow riparian buffers.

Let's assume we are going to turn toward a stewardship society, one that cares about others, that restores ecosystems and improves air, water and land health.
What are you learning about to improve hope and possibility in our life on Earth?
